Maintenance on the Filter/Regulator/Lubricator

To empty the FRL follow the steps below:

An FRL unit removes impurities and much of the water still in the air system, regulates air pressure based on anticipated use and properly lubricates tools and equipment

  1. Turn off the air by rotating the air release valve clockwise as shown in the photo below.
  2. Rotate the drain plug counter clockwise to begin draining the moisture out of the unit.
  3. Once fully drained, close the drain plug again by rotating it clockwise.
  4. The next step is to open the filter container. To do this press down on the blue tab and then rotate the canister out clockwise.
  5. Inside the canister you will find a filter element. Over time, the filter eventually reaches its impurity retention capacity and becomes clogged. If the air filter is not changed in time, the filter creates a difference in pressure and the air can no longer circulate freely. Water is neither filtered nor eliminated. As a result, power is wasted and poor air quality leads to problems with equipment. When the filter element is changed, air can freely circulate again, energy consumption returns to normal and water is eliminated at the point of application-all of which safeguards air quality.
  6. Once the filter has been changed, return the canister to its original location and turn the air release back on.
